Eyelid Hygiene

What Is Meibomian Gland Disease (MGD) and How Can an Ocular Hygiene Regimen Help Your Patients Who Suffer From It?

Meibomian gland disease is a result of a blockage or some other abnormality of the Meibomian glands in the eyelid. When these glands don’t secrete enough oil onto the surface of the eye, the tears evaporate too quickly, causing dry eyes. MGD is a leading cause of dry eye syndrome and can often contribute to blepharitis, an inflammation of the eyelid.

Adding a daily hygiene regimen to an existing management plan using lubricating eye drops helps break the dry eye cycle, while enhancing the effectiveness of artificial tears (I-DROP®), and aids in the restoration of corneal health.

What Are The Benefits Of Our I-LID ’N LASH® Ocular Hygiene Line?

The ingredients in cleansers can impact your patients’ overall eye health.  Our uniquely formulated cleanser containing sodium hyaluronate is effective, yet gentle on the eyes. Used daily, I-LID ’N LASH® yields the following benefits.

  • Cleans eyelids and lashes by removing ocular debris
  • Improves the effectiveness of artificial tears
  • Soothing ingredients do not burn or irritate sensitive skin

How Does Tea Tree Oil (TTO) Help With Ocular Hygiene?

Tea tree oil is an essential oil derived from Melaleuca Alternifolia. Employed for its powerful cleansing and hydrating properties, TTO is a safe and effective ingredient. Its natural skin-sanitizing benefits cleanse away dirt, bacteria and toxins, leaving the skin feeling healthier and more hydrated. I-LID ’N LASH® PLUS contains tea tree oil.

What is HOCl?

Hypochlorous acid (HOCl) occurs naturally in the body. It is produced by white blood cells and found within the bodies of mammals, including humans. It is chemical free, non-toxic, and all-natural and completely safe for humans and animals. It has been used in the medical field for over a century to fight germs and inactivate pathogens, such as bacteria, viruses, spores, and fungi.

Hypochlorous acid, when generated in water, is an ideal disinfectant due to its strong anti-microbial properties combined with its
non-toxicity characteristics.

We offer a wide range of Ocular Hygiene products. Find the one that best suits your patients’ needs.
